From 1986 to 1996, Debbie owned and operated Kanner Language Systems (KLS), the nation's leading simultaneous interpretation company.
After selling KLS, Debbie founded and operated Deborah Kanner Professional Organizing Systems (DKPOS), a firm dedicated to working with companies and individuals to improve productivity. DKPOS ultimately became Start Up Right (SUR), a company that assisted businesses with the design, planning and implementation of their physical and administrative infrastructure — serving primarily venture capital startups and early stage companies in the Bay Area.
Ms. Kanner joined DMG as a consultant and project manager in the turnaround and workout/restructure business in 2000. Since then, she has lead and managed more than 20 projects including various intellectual property sale (IP Sale) projects, interfacing with the engineering, HR, finance and marketing departments of client companies.
During these assignments Ms. Kanner specialized in packaging the IP in a form that increased its net worth to a potential buyer while working with the engineering, HR, finance and marketing departments. Ms. Kanner led and executed the MobileStar assignment resulting in MobileStar's successful sale to T-Mobile. Additionally, Ms. Kanner managed the IP sale efforts across international borders for Alidian Networks, gaining substantial returns for the creditors and investors of the company.
In addition to her work with DMG, Ms. Kanner owns and manages a real estate investment and management business. Debbie is the founding member of the Contra Costa County based chapter of the Business Network International (BNI). She also serves as president of a San Francisco based chapter of BNI, the world's largest professional networking organization.
In addition to her work, Ms. Kanner is a fitness, music and travel enthusiast, and, a dedicated mother to daughter Aliyah and 20-month-old Zachary, her son.
